Flutist Jennifer Hunt pursues a versatile musical life as a passionate performer and educator. She is a master trainer for the Leonard Bernstein Center’s Artful Learning Curriculum and with that, travels all around the US training teachers in integrated arts education and has been featured in the documentary "How Did You Learn Today?". She is adjunct flute faculty at Napa Valley College and Pacific Union College and a teaching artist at Willow Elementary School.

 

Ms. Hunt regularly presents solo recitals, combining diverse works with the standards of the flute repertoire. She has been a featured concerto soloist with the Napa Valley College Orchestra, Hartt Collegium Baroque Ensemble, Foot in the Door Contemporary Players, and the University of Montana Symphony Orchestra and has been a guest artist for the Dillon Concert Association’s Community Concert Series. In 2015, she founded OpusEd, an integrated arts education company, whose mission includes fostering interdisciplinary learning through the arts, specifically music.

 

Combining her passions for music and service work, Jennifer created and performed in “Bach and Roll for Haiti,” a series of concerts to benefit Save the Children relief efforts in Haiti and has worked to incorporate the performing arts into education by orchestrating music and theater projects at schools in Peru and on the Flathead Indian Reservation in Montana.

 

She was Co-Artistic Director and flutist of New Music Decanted, a group dedicated to the performance and demystification of contemporary classical music. She has played flute and piccolo with the Russian National Orchestra, Hartford Opera Theater Orchestra, Montana Lyric Opera Orchestra, MagikMagik Orchestra, Bay Point Ballet, and has been featured on NPR. An advocate for new music, Jennifer has commissioned an premiered numerous solo and chamber works throughout her career, including Ken Steen’s flute quartet Meander at the 2012 National Flute Association annual convention in Las Vegas; Carve Your Own Space for flute and vibraphone by Gary Hunt; and a thousand times richer for solo flute by Ryan McMasters. Jennifer completed her BM in Flute Performance at the University of Montana and her MM at The Hartt School, where she studied with Janet Arms. While she is primarily classically trained, Jennifer also has experience playing jazz, Irish, Peruvian and American folk music. She enjoys gardening, cooking, traveling, and spending time outdoors with her family .
